Mindfulness course

Through our Friends of ANCHOR patient community we are fully funding a mindfulness course which will be available to all members of the group. The course sessions, which are exclusive to patients, will run every Wednesday from 10am to 11am and will be led by accredited meditation instructor Louise Martin.

The course will include tuition on sitting meditation, body scans, mindful movement, walking meditation and insight meditation.

Throughout the past decade, nearly 150 clinical trials have been carried out to assess the effects of mindfulness in cancer management. These studies have highlighted that mindfulness can help to relieve particular symptoms and improve quality of life for people with cancer. Some of the benefits include improved mood and concentration and reduced levels of fatigue, stress, anxiety and depression.

Our tutor Louise is an accredited Mindfulness Teacher for the British Association for Mindfulness Based Approaches. Louise is accredited to teach Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Living Courses.
